Organ Concerti

Opus 4, 1-6

G. F. Handel

The G. F. Handel (1685-1759) organ concerti, Op. 4, comprise six organ concertos for chamber organ and  small orchestra. Written as interludes in performances of oratorios in Covent Garden, they were the first works of their kind and served as examples for future composers.

As is the case with much music from this time period, there are moments of interpretation, often left to the performer.  For the sake of this application, OSA has included some preset interpretations as well as "pause/resume" suggestions in places where the orchestra does not play, giving the player the chance to perform some sections, ad lib.

The You Tube samples are a mix of interpretations and are only meant to give a representative example of each concerto.
