Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring

J. S. Bach

Joann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) is recognized today as one of the pillars of composition during the Baroque. He was one of the most prolific and brilliant composers for the organ but his compositional genius is evident as well in his orchestral, choral and concerti works.

"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" is the English title of a chorale setting from the cantata, Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147 composed in 1723.

There are many different transcriptions of this extremely popular piece.  In this OSA arrangement, strings play the chorale. Because this is an OSA arrangement, the You Tube video here is the actual audio file available for purchase.

If you are just getting started with OSA, this is an excellent place to begin.
